Peter Carther was born in 1771 in Ontario, Canada. He married Christy McLeod, and they had six children: Joseph (b. 1799), Malcolm (b. 1801), Mary (b. 1808), Isabella (b. 1810), Margaret (b. 1812), and Alexander (b. 1825). He was listed on the 1852 Census of Canada East/Canada West/New Brunswick and Nova Scotia as residing in Stormont County, West Ontario. He died July 29, 1860 in Ontario.
