Oliver (Ole?) Halvor (Halver?) (Holevar?) Teig (Tyge?) was born in 1849 in Sauda, Norway.  He was married to Gurina (Julia) Obe in 1876.  They emigrated to America, settling in Iowa (where he adopted the name “Oliver”), and had five children: Julia Halverson (b. February 2, 1878), Martha Guerina (b. September 10, 1879), Josephine Ingeborg (b. February 7, 1882), Henry Halvor (b. March 28, 1883), and Oliver (b. October 4, 1884).  The 1880 Federal Census has the family living in Warren, Story, Iowa with daughters Julia and Martha.  Oliver passed away in 1885 in Ruthven, Palo Alto, Iowa, leaving his young family distraught.  He was buried in Highland Township Cemetery in Ruthven.
